Downloading
The video is a 600
MB MPEG1 file, playable on Windows, Mac, or Linux.
There is also an automatic
installer / IMC video player available. If you are using Windows or Mac OS
9, this will automatically detect whether you have the proper video player
components on your system, and start up an installer if necessary. It will
also present the video in a nifty Indymedia interface, and if you burn the
software and video to a CD-ROM, you can give a copy to friends, and still
be sure that the video will play properly. To make a CD-ROM, do this:
- To download the video, right-click
(Windows, Linux) or click-and-hold (Mac) on this link,
and select "Save link as..." It will take 2-6 hours to download,
even on a broadband connection; you'll end up with a file called "video.mov"
on your computer.
- Download the video
player software. You will have to unzip it using Winzip
(Windows) or Stuffit Expander (Mac).
- When you have unzipped the video
player software, there should be a whole bunch of files in a folder called
"ftaa". Put the video file, "video.mov" in this folder.
- Take all of the files inside
the "ftaa" folder and burn them to a CD. You don't need to include
the folder "ftaa" itself, just put all of the stuff inside it
on the CD.
If you want to make your own customized
Indymedia Video CDs using the software, detailed instructions for the use
of the software are here.
